Music by The Piano Brothers

John A. Bogdanowicz, 67, of Dudley died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at home.  John was born in Webster.  He is the son of the late Charles Z. Bogdanowicz and the late Stasia (Tokarz) Bogdanowicz and lived most of his life in Dudley

He is survived by two daughters:  Laura Canty of Rutland and Lisa Gajewski of Dudley, one sister, Mary, wife of Joseph Smalarz of Wakefield and predeceased by his brother, Charles Paul Bogdanowicz.  John was affectionately known as Grumpy especially to his 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Connor, Brianna, Kayla, Julia, Lauren and Jenna and 2 great-grandchildren, Ella and Raina.  John further leaves nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.

John was employed by Morgan Construction as a draftsman.  He was an event  photographer  covering weddings, picnics and the occasional “local news”.  He loved working and managing the “club” in Webster for years.  He enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, hiking and canoeing.   He was a talented artist  who worked with watercolors, pastels, oils and even wood.   John enjoyed going to the firing range and was truly an eclectic collector of many things.

John was a deep conversationalist with a passion for sharing his thoughts.  His witty and dark humor is already missed.

A memorial service will be held Friday Sept. 21 at 1 Pm  at Bartel Funeral Home and Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, MA  .No calling hours.

To Laura and Lisa your dad was a warm and caring guy. He was also very talented and artistic in many ways. Losing someone you love is difficult. I am sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your families in my prayers. If I can be of any help in anyway please don't hesitate to ask. A loved one is never lost its just that when they leave you have to learn to hug them with your heart and they will always be with you. God Bless

To Laura, Lisa, and to all of your dad's family - I want to express my sincere condolences to you. I was sadly surprised to hear of John's passing. I know he had health issues but this was still unexpected to me. I've known John since I was a freshman in high school. We worked for the same company, Morgan Construction, for many years. We also dated for two separate periods in our lives. John was a wonderful, talented man. He worked hard at his jobs and loved his daughters. I own a watercolor of his that shows his artistic talent. He was also a terrific photographer and he certainly loved his music. I am sad at his passing and hope he has found the peace he sought in life. My thoughts are with you.
